JUDIE TZUKE
Left Hand Talking
COLUMBIA COL 467483
Judie Tzuke might have only one hit to her name but that's still more than
most manage. As if to rub it in, a slightly rejigged Stay With Me'Till Dawn crops up again here on her Columbia label debut. Not much else has changed either. She was wistful, sweetly voiced and dealt in songs that were a little soggy round the edges in 1979 and that's still the case today. There can be no quibbling with the presentation, of course, but it does all sound terribly bland, polite and Rodio 2-ish. Still, there is a solid version of Judee Sill's lovely Jesus Was A Cross Maker, while the powerful Celtic sway and martial drum beats of Outlaws ends proceedings on an impressively strong note. As you were, really.**
