BIOGRAPHY
Judie Tzuke
Today’s showcase introduces Judie Tzuke’s ninth album "Left Hand Talking" and her first as a solo artist for Columbia Records.
Judie Tzuke established herself as a premier singer/Songwriter back in the early eighties when her first single, the now classic, "Stay With Me Till Dawn" launched her career. The combination of Judie’s Powerful writing and the ethereal feel to her work has now spanned a decade and sustained huge devoted fan loyalty. This loyalty was shown earlier this week when Judie’s two shows at London’s Shaw Theatre were packed to capacity, tickets selling out within days of going on sale.
The album comes after a two year sabbatical for Judie, a break which is reflected in the mellower, more tranquil atmosphere of "Left Hand Talking". "For the first time I attempted to record just what came into my head, without looking for singles and the pressures of such things." Says Judie. "I think the album is much gentler than usual for me. I like it."
Songs on the album range from a brilliant version of the Beach Boys’ "God Only Knows", a plea that "One Day I Will Live in France" and a re-recording of the single that started it all "Stay With Me Till Dawn". The album brings us bang up to date with Judie’s life, in "Bailey’s Song" written by Judie for her young daughter. But essentially, as Judie confirms, "Left Hand Talking" contains songs "that feel right".
