Judie Tzuke

Judie Tzuke - The Rare Recordings!

Over the years Judie has released many tracks out-with the normal album releases. These tracks have been released on the B-side of singles, live albums or as additional tracks. The list below is by no means exhaustive but is based on known tracks from my knowledge. Obviously there will be other tracks that have been released on promos or are lurking around on studio tapes? Do you know of any additional tracks?

The tracks listed below would make an excellent compilation album, who knows one day maybe we'll see a 'Judie Tzuke B-side herself' album - similar to the excellent Marillion CD. We can but hope...

These Are The Laws:
Released as a single under the name of 'Tzuke and Paxo', with Mike Paxman. The single was released in 1977 on the Good Earth record label. The track returned in a slightly different form on the 'Welcome To The Cruise' album in 1979.

It's Only Fantasies:
The B-side of the above single and possibly one of the rarest tracks to find. It has never been released in any other form, hasn't been performed at concerts and is contained on a single that is almost impossible to get your hands on.

Dreaming Of Another World:
A track only performed live during Judie's 1979 tour. It can only be found on the early bootlegs.

It's The Night:
The B-side of the 'Understanding' single released in 1980, Rocket XPRES 26.

The Hunter:
Never released as a studio track. 'The Hunter' can only be found on the, live, 'Roadnoise - The Official Bootleg' album, Chrysalis CTY 1405, or on the 'Portfolio' album released in 1988.

Sold A Rose:
Another B-side, this time on the rear of the 'Love On The Border' single released in 1982, Chrysalis CHS2600.

Run On Luck:
The B-side release of 'I'm Not A Loser', a single released in 1982 on both 7" Picture Sleeve(Chrysalis CHS2617) and 7" Picture Disc(Chrysalis CHSP2617) versions.

Late Again:
The 7" Single version is a different remix from the album and is much more piano based.

Black Furs:
The Express 90 single release was different from the original version and included Jeff Rich on drums as opposed to Charlie Morgan.

Jeannie No:
The 12" Version of 'Jeannie No' contained an extended remix version, not available elsewhere. Again released in picture sleeve on Chrysalis Records, CHS122728. Possibly one of the most beautiful pictures I have ever seen of Judie Tzuke and such a crime that it was not in colour, even the Ritmo album the re-use of the photograph on the 'Portfolio' compilation remained black and white! Hence the opening page of my site has the small picture from 'What Hi-fi' - the only colour photo I have seen from this photo shoot! Unless you know different?

Standing in the Shadows:
Again another track that was never released but only available on bootlegs as the opening track for the Ritmo tour of 1983.

You:
Yet again 'You' sees the 12" containing an extended vocal/remix version with a 'Jazz' mix of the track on the A-side. Picture Sleeve once more and released by Legacy, LGYT 14.

Love Like Fire:
The 7" single(LGY 25) had an 'instrumental' version of Love Like Fire on the B-side. This could also be found on the 12" single(LGYT 25) with an additional 'Club Mix' version.

This Side of Heaven:
Remixed for the single release(LGY 30).

We'll Go Dreaming:
Another remix on the 12" and CD Releases(Polydor PZ31/PZCD31).

Dangerous Toys:
On the B-side of the 12" and CD versions of 'We'll Go Dreaming'.

All They Can Do Is Talk About You:
Not exactly 'rare', this track was released in a variety of forms. Both the cassette and CD versions of 'Turning Stones' contained it as an additional 'bonus' track. It would also pop up on the B-side of 'Let Me Be The Pearl', 7" and 12" versions.

Love Is Not For Sale:
Released along with 'All They Can Do...' on the B-side of the 12" version of 'Let Me Be The Pearl', Polydor PZ46.

God Only Knows:
The 12" promotional single included an extended version and, wait for it, 'A DANCE VERSION' of the track. Thankfully, though, the standard 12" and CD release stuck to the original version.

Safe House:
Released on the B-side of 'God Only Knows', 7" and 12" versions, and also included on the CD version of the Single.

Dog Rose:
Released on the B-side, and as an additional track on the CD, of 'Outlaws'. Columbia 656995 7/656995 2.

In The Morning:
Released as an additional track on the Wonderland CD Single, ESS X 2017.

Lives in the Balance:
Recorded in the studio by the touring band between Under The Angels and Secret Agent. It was part of the "Poppies" charity CD collection which was an anti-war CD. The track is a cover of a Jackson Browne song. The album was released on the Dressed For Peace label in 1997, DTKBOX70.

Two Mountains:
A remix version, released as a promotional CD single for radio in 1998.
