Bootleg Album Releases...

The album on the left is called 'No More Mr. Nice Guy'. It was recorded live at the Glasgow Apollo in 1982. This show was recorded by Radio Clyde and was broadcast in it's entirety on the radio, with the exception of the full 18 minute version of School's Out, which, after several years of pestering I eventually managed to get them to play !!! ;-)

Released on a white label pressing the album claims to be an 'out of school' production on the Super Sound Label as Catalogue Number ALICE 18. I don't think they could fit any more puns on the cover ! ;-)

The Track list, which tends to make me think that this was recorded from the radio show, hence the lack of School's Out, is as follows:

Who Do You Think We Are
Go To Hell
Guilty
Eighteen
Cold Ethyl
Only Women Bleed
No More Mr. Nice Guy
Clones
Under My Wheels
I Never Cry
7&7 is
Grim Facts
Pain

The album on the right, Under The Blade, is quite nicely put together and even includes copyright information on the label - thus attempting to make it look official !

Recorded at the London Wembley Arena on the 23rd November 1986, produced by Dwight Fry and released on 'Eighteen Records' - I'll bet it took them a while to think that one up ! ;-)

The track list is as follows:

Welcome to My Nightmare
Billion Dollar Babies
No More Mr. Nice Guy
Only Women Bleed
Elected
The World Needs Guts
Give it Up
Teenage Frankenstein
School's Out
Under My Wheels

'Early A' doesn't give many details away with regards to it's release, etc. Recorded in 1971 it comes in a plain white sleeve, and white label, with an orange paper insert incorporating the track list details and a silhouette of Alice with head in hands - the same as the cover on certain releases of the 'Go To Hell' single.

The record company is listed as 'Quality Records' - I won't argue with them but...

The strange thing about this release is that it also contains 'Slick Black Limousine' which wasn't released until 1973 - and to date has only been released on floppy disc! I believe the soon to be released box set should have this on it's track list. Still until then it's nice to have a vinyl copy of this track!

The track list is as follows:

Caught in a Dream
Eighteen
Is it my Body
Slick Black Limousine
Sunrise
Ballad of Dwight Fry
Black Juju

Sick was released as another attempt to appear as a 'genuine' release. Labelled as a Stellar Music Special, San Francisco Bands (pt.1), record label SMS-002-1.

The album is a compilation of tracks from different concerts - although where and when they came from is debatable - some tracks are stated as being recorded in 1969 when they weren't even recorded until 1970.

The track list is as follows:

Under My Wheels (1978)
Billion Dollar Babies (1978)
Is it my Body (San Francisco 1969)
Pain (El Paso 1981)
I Never Cry (El Paso 1981)
Eighteen (El Paso 1981)
Caught in a Dream (San Francisco 1969)
Second Coming (San Francisco 1969)
You & Me (El Paso 1981)

This is definitely the best unofficial release I have came across. Not so much for the quality of the tracks but for the time taken to make the album look as professional as possible.

A double album with a well laid out cover, claims to be a promotional album and even includes fan club details. Although it doesn't actually have a record label name it does contain a little picture of what appears to be a milk bottle saying 'Boy Howdy' ! Catalogue number Pro-101.

'This Sweet Sickness' was recorded at The Apollo Theatre, Manchester, on 28th November 1986 and at The Forum, Los Angeles, on 16th June 1975.

The track list is as follows:

Welcome to my Nightmare
Billion Dollar Babies
No More Mr. Nice Guy
Be My Lover
Eighteen
The World Needs Guts
Give it Up
Cold Ethyl
Only Women Bleed
Go To Hell
Going Insane{?}
Teenage Frankenstein
Sick Things
I Love the Dead
School's Out
Elected
Under My Wheels
Welcome To My Nightmare
Years Ago
No More Mr. Nice Guy
Billion Dollar Babies
Eighteen

The following bootlegs have been supplied by Graeme Cornish, thanks Graeme.

The album on the right isn't so much a bootleg as 'A Radio Special'! Whether it was a promotional release, or not, I'm not sure.

Basically the album consisted of a mixture of Alice Cooper tracks from over the years, studio and live. Nothing along the lines of a bootleg recording - all the tracks were taken from Alice's own albums.

Possibly someone's 'best of' compilation or a genuine release for radio? If anyone knows it's secrets - please let me know.

The album on the left was called 'You're All Crazier Than I am', it was also released under the heading of 'Live at the hollywood Bowl 1972'.

Released as two albums the first three sides were recorded at the Hollywood Bowl, whereas side 4, which on the album is listed as a special bonus, contained additional tracks - which, if my records are correct, were recorded at Horfatra University!

The bootleg starts with an introduction by Wolfman Jack followed by the following tracks:

Public Animal No. 9
Be My Lover
I'm Eighteen
Is It My Body
Halo of Flies
Gutter Cat v's The Jets
Street Fight
Killer
Long Way To Go
School's Out

Side 4 - Live in Concert:

I'm Eighteen
Gutter Cat v's The Jets
Street Fight
Killer
Elected(Studio Version)
School's Out

The bootleg on the right is from the Welcome To My Nightmare Tour of 1975. Called 'Sold Out', it was recorded at the Los Angeles Forum on the 16th June 1975.

Again another 'Quality' record release.

The track listing is as follows:

Cold Ethyl
Only Women
Devils Food
Black Widow
Escape
School's Out
Department of Youth
Ballad of Dwight Fry

The album on the left is Parricidal Slumbers - Arachnoid Preposteroso On Stage, possibly one of the best know Alice Cooper Bootlegs - and possibly one of the first.

Released on the Quality Records Label. The album was re-incarnated as the other 'Quality Records' bootleg above, EARLY A, although the track listing was slightly different from the Parricidal Slumbers track list.

The studio tracks of 'Nobody Likes Me' and 'Return of the Spiders' were missing from the 'Early A' release, although strangely 'Slick Black Limousine' remained!

The track list for Parricidal Slumbers was as follows:

Nobody Likes Me (studio version)
Sun Arise
Caught In A Dream
I'm Eighteen
Is It My Body/My Very Own
Slick Black Limousine (studio version - see comments on Early A)
Ballad Of Dwight Fry
Black Juju
Return Of The Spiders(Studio Version)

The bootleg on the right was called Alice and Ian.

The A side consisted of tracks by Alice whereas the B-side was Jethro Tull!

Again the album doesn't say where it was recorded but the tracks are the same as 'side 4' of the Hollywood Bowl '72 album - with the exception of the missing studio track, Elected. Therefore, again, I take it the album was recorded at Horfatra University. Is there really such a place?

The Alice Cooper tracks are as follows:

I'm Eighteen
Gutter Cat v's The Jets
Street Fight
Killer
School's Out

The album on the left is yet another bootleg from Graeme Cornish, one that obviously managed to escape his first search!

Although classed as a bootleg this album managed a commercial release in Japan where it was supplied as a special bonus CD with the 'Box Set' version release of 'The Last Temptation'.

The magazine and a Japanese lyric sheet were also included.

Recorded at the Electric Lady on the 13th September 1991, the track list was as follows:

Sick Things
Only Women Bleed/Wind up Toy
No More Mr. Nice Guy/Billion Dollar Babies
Poison
Hey Stoopid
